Clinical Facilities

The College of Human Resources & Education has three clinical facilities that meet the needs of a variety of clients. The speech, hearing, and reading clinics provide a positive learning environment for students enrolled in the departments of Speech Pathology and Audiology and Curriculum & Instruction/Literacy Studies. In a given year, over 1400 clients are provided services by the three clinics.

The West Virginia University Speech Center

The West Virginia University Speech Center is located on the eighth floor of Allen Hall. Therapy is conducted Monday through Friday under the supervision of a fully certified staff. Caseloads for a typical semester include clients with disorders like articulation, adult and child language, fluency, and voice. Both individual and group therapy sessions are offered.

The West Virginia University Hearing Center

The West Virginia University Hearing Center is located on the third floor of Allen Hall. Complete diagnostic and rehabilitative services are provided on a referral basis Monday through Friday. There are many opportunities in which students can learn from a variety of different experiences.

The West Virginia University Reading Clinic

The Reading Clinic at WVU provides individual and group reading instruction for children. There are close to 100 children served each year and includes over 2,000 instructional hours. Graduate students in the master’s reading program assist in the instruction. Dr. Steven Rinehart is the coordinator of the Reading Clinic.
